I love this outfit. It is one of those ones that feels ‘me’. The color of this blouse is one of my absolute favorites. I call it Peacock blue, though I know that is not the correct term. The reason I call it that is because I have owned a few peacock feathers, (which are something else that I love) and it reminds me of the mix of that blue and green in their feathers.  Image result for peacock feather
For me, it is one of those colors that has no name! LOL! It is teal/green blue/ cobalt/. . . you get the idea. I have no idea what to call it! So, if ya’ll know what this shade is called. . . LET ME KNOW!!! I sound so uneducated when I try to describe my favorite color. *hides* It really is bad. I need a little swatch to carry around in my purse and when people ask me, I can whip it out with panache and wave it beneath their noses. “This! This is my favorite color.” Maybe that would look worse than fumbling for words. . . hmmmm. . .
Anywho. . . My hair style was a happy accident. *giggles* So, I had seen a few tutorials where they made two braids, one fishtail, and one normal and then wrapped them both across the top of their head. My hair was slightly damp from washing it, and we were having guests, so I needed something nice and I thought that I would give it a try. It failed. I did the braids and if you know anything about fishtail braids, you will know that they take a L O N G time. So, all that work, and I wrapped them on top of my head, looked in the mirror and half cringed, half laughed out loud. My hair was so thick, it looked like I had a Frisbee hanging off the front of my head. Like, ridiculous and almost Princess-Lei-from-Star-Wars-esque-crazy hair. Soooooo. . . That being said, I compromised and instead of wrapping them both in front, I was able to improvise and wrap one in front, and the other behind. LOL! It worked, even if you can still see a little bit of clear elastic. Another thing about me. . . One of my biggest pet peeves on myself is when bobby pins or clear elastics are visible in hairstyles. *cringes* you have no idea how hard it was to this perfectionist to post a picture where you can see a tiny piece of the clear elastic. . .
NOW!!!! On to the tag part of the post!!! YAY! Thank you so much to the lovely Allison for tagging me! I love tags, but tags about books? SIGN ME UP!!!!
1. Name a book you’re embarrassed to say you haven’t read yet.
Um. . . Pride and Prejudice. I think. I started it, but never finished it. I really want to finish.
2. What is the strangest thing you’ve ever used as a bookmark?
Oh gosh. I have no idea! Anything really. Kleenex, business cards, receipts, and even the occasional paperclip and post it notes of course make great bookmarks. Though lately, I have been very good and have used ACTUAL bookmarks! Imagine that!
3. Look at your bookshelf. What’s the first book you see with a yellow spine?
Two popped out to me actually. Though, one isn’t exactly yellow yellow. Here we are back to colors again! How did this happen? It is kind of a goldy, vintagey brown/yellow. ANYWHO!!! It was A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton Porter, and the other was my series of Madeline books. I wuvs my Gene Stratton Porter and Madeline was the stuff of my childhood!

4. If you could have one new book from a deceased author, who would it be?
OH DARN!!!!! You have no idea. . . I can’t even . . . *sqirms* I have SO STINKING MANY! I am a huge, avid reader of OLD books, so therefore, most of the ones I have read and loved are by authors that are deceased. Though, to go with my favorite author ever. . . Gene Stratton Porter. Or Grace Livingston Hill, or CS Lewis, or Isabella Alden, or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. . . etc. You get the idea.
5. Name an author who deserves more readership.
Okay, I am sure this is getting old and that you are getting the picture by now. . . but GENE STRATTON PORTER! But read Freckles first. *swoon* My favorite-ist book in the whole world.
6. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Right now,  bookmark because my mom made me some really pretty ones that I love.
7. Can you stop anywhere in a book or do you have to finish the chapter?
Hmmm. . . it depends, but being OCD, I usually like to finish a chapter or at least a section. Unless it is boring, then I don’t care. And it if is exciting. . . I don’t stop at all. Open-mouthed smile
8. One book at a time or several?
Preferably, one book at a time, but I usually read a non-fic and a fiction at the same time. My brain can’t handle much more than that.
9. Do you read ahead or skip pages?
Almost never. I can’t stand to read ahead because I don’t want to ruin any surprises. I do love being surprised by books. But I might skip a page or two if things are boring or there is poor writing.
10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
Hmmmm. . . Both I guess? I like a book that looks loved, but I also like to take care of them. I like the spine to be easy to hold open, so I guess I technically break them? BUT NO FOLDED COVERS OR PAGES. Just sayin.
11. What books do you regret reading?
Oh, totally have one off the top of my head. It was an Irene Hannon book called Taken. It was SUPER CREEPY. Like, nightmare, disgusting creepy. I hated that I read it and was really mad at myself. I kept hoping it would get better, but the ending wasn’t enough to make up for it. Just. . . UGH.
12. On average, how many books do you read per year?
I have absolutely no idea, but I would probably say close to 100.
13. What book can you read hundreds of times and never get tired of?
The two that come to mind off the top of my head, wait, three. are Freckles by Gene Stratton Porter, Three People by Isabella Alden (pure gold, that book) and The Case of the Baker Street Irregular by Robert Newman.
14. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from a book?
Well, that is a really hard question. And I can’t pick a particular book. Other than the Bible and the best and biggest lesson of all that that one encompasses (Christ’s love for us) I have learned the importance of standing up for what you believe and being strong in the faith. Books such as Three People by Isabella Alden, Wise and Otherwise by the same author and too many that I can’t even list or count them all have taught me that. And I am forever encouraged to be stronger in what I believe and not to be ashamed of speaking the truth.
15. What is the most recent book you’ve read?
I just finished reading the O’Malley series by Dee Henderson, and finished the I AM book by Lysa Terkurst. Both were great.
16. What quote from any book will you never forget? Why is it significant?
This is hard, because I have a really bad memory. Which is why I keep a bazillion lists these days, but that is another story. Just because something reminded me of it, and I don’t know it word for word, so I will look it up, it was the quote from The Horse and His Boy by CS Lewis. This part of the story is so impactful to me that I always get tears in my eyes. The idea and indeed fact that God is there with us every moment and directing our every step and circumstance. It overwhelms me with His love for us. He is always there. Always. There is so much wisdom in this quote. So much.

Once more he felt the warm breath of the Thing on his hand and face. “There,” it said, “that is not the breath of a ghost. Tell me your sorrows.”
Shasta was a little reassured by the breath: so he told how he had never known his real father or mother and had been brought up sternly by the fisherman. and then he told the story of his escape and how they were chased by lions and forced to swim for their lives; and of all their dangers in Tashbaan and about his night among the Tombs and how the beasts howled at him out of the desert. And he told about the heat and thirst of their desert journey and how they were almost at their goal when another lion chased them and wounded Aravis. And also, how very long it was since had had anything to eat.
“I do not call you unfortunate,” said the Large Voice.
“Don’t you think it was bad luck to meet so many lions?” said Shasta.
“There was only one lion.” said the Voice.
“What on earth do you mean? I’ve just told you there were at least two lions the first night, and -”
“There was only one, but he was swift of foot.”
“How do you know?”
“I was the lion.”
And as Shasta gaped with open mouth and said nothing, the Voice continued. “I was the lion who forced you to join with Aravis. I was the cat who comfroted you among the houses of the dead. I was the lion who drove the jackals from you as you slept. I was the lion who gave the Horses the new strength of fear for the last mile so that you should reach King Lune in time. And I was the lion you do not remember who pushed the baot in which you lay, a child near death, so that it came to shore where a man sat, wakeful at midnight, to receive you.”
“Then it was you who wounded Aravis?”
“It was I.”
“But what for?”
“Child,” said the Voice, “I am telling you your story, not hers. I tell no one any story but his own.”
“Who are you?” asked Shasta.
“Myself,” said the Voice, very deep and low so that the earth shook: and again “Myself,” loud and clear and gay: and then the third time “Myself,” whispered so softly you could hardly hear it, and yet it seemed to come from all around you as if the leaves rustled with it.

17. How many books do you own?
Again, I have no idea because a lot of it is in storage. But I would guess after counting everything that is out on a shelf that I think I have somewhere around 350-450, but if we are counting ebooks, then I have a  LOT more. I wish all my ebooks were paperbacks. *cries* oh if that were only so!
18. In the past year, what is the greatest book you’ve read?
Two actually. I AM by Lysa Terkurst, and The Power of Femininity by Michelle McKinney Hammond. Both Highly highly recommended.
