my favorite looks from
Something you may not know about me is that I have a love of dressy fashion. I’m talking ball gowns galore! One of my dreams is to be able to be a fashion designer (along with a costume designer) and get to design these kinds of dresses. These kinds events are always fun to look at the fashion from, but I also find my fair share of duds that make me do a double take and ask the question “What were you thinking?” LOL! Which only makes me want to be a designer even more. Two years ago, when I got to design and make my sister-in-law’s wedding dress, (which you can find here) only gave me a tiny taste of what it is to get to do this type of thing. While money and time don’t allow me to follow this dream at the moment, I hope to at some point in the future.
But without further ado, let’s get into my favorite looks from the Critic’s Choice Awards of 2019.

Olivia Munn In Andrew Gn.

The Black and White polka dots have such an eye-catching, but also vintage vibe to them. The flowy, feminine silhouette paired with the voluminous ruffles around her sleeves showcase her natural beauty in a stunning way. Her natural look with the red lips also adds to the vintage vibe just a smidge, making this a very classy look.

Gemma Chan In Jason Wu

This GORGEOUS gown had me swooning the minute I saw it. The bright and unique floral on the stiff silk looking material that definitely holds its elegant and full shape. And it has pockets. That would just have to be a feature in any gown that I design. LOL! Always pockets if possible! This is probably my number one of the night for sure!

Angela Bassett

This woman knows how to glow and is just stunning in her own right. This glitzy gown has so much dimension that she stands out like a diamond. It is very flattering on her and silver is definitely a gorgeous look that she pulls off well. Her hair au-natural adds to her queenly air. The texture in this dress has me mesmerized!

Yalitza Aparicio

This chiffon number is beautiful. The drape of the train and the skirt. . .I can just imagine the movement and swish that it makes as she walks elegantly down the carpet, head high. The black detailing and criss-cross front add some detail to an otherwise simple gown and she proves that simple can oftentimes be best. Her natural elegance shines through with this look for sure.

Jodie Comer

Jodie Comer’s lovely look made me think of a dove. The soft, ethereal look to the fabric with all the lacy elements are just so stunning. There is such a softness to her look that I would totally find myself happily wearing this gown. Her understated makeup and hair also lend to the pure and innocent beauty of this piece.

Nina Dobrev

This red lace number had me staring for several minutes. The soft elements of the ruffles near the hem and the ends of her sleeves, as well as the sweetheart neckline beneath the lace, is just gorgeous. Red is always a show stopper and I must say that Nina wears it well. The dress just suits her so well and fits like a glove. Honestly, the cut looks like it was designed for her with its slim, but flowy silhouette.

Chrissy Metz

Chrissy glows in this gown! The blush color is a perfect match for her complexion and the simplicity of the gown is upstaged by the floral work in a masterful way. She is stunning! I adore this dress so much. . . So simple, yet so stunning. . .

D’Arcy Carden

This lovely number was an honorable mention for me. The cut is a little low for my taste, but aside from that, it is perfection. The emerald green is one of my favorites and the pop of yellow with her accessories adds a bit of whimsy to this otherwise classic and classy gown. My other comment was also hair and makeup. The natural glam look has been a popular one of late and I find it so much more stunning than anything exotic. D’arcy looked like a woman proud to be herself.
