I always love reading these posts. You get to know in a bit more detail, some of the personality quirks, and the habits that make each person unique. I hope you enjoy getting to know a little bit more about me. If you are new or have been here awhile, stick around, and you might learn something new. I’d love to hear some random things about you too, so make sure you hit me up in the comments!
1~ I love and collect mugs and graphic T’s.
I love mugs and t-shirts that have inspiring quotes on them. I have had some great fun designing mugs myself, (you can find them here). I love having something artsy, creative and colorful to inspire me in my daily life. My favorite places to shop for fun, gorgeous t-shirts are Crazy Cool Threads and Ruby’s Rubbish.
2~ I own four instruments!
I mainly play the piano and have for 17 years. But I also own a cello, ukulele and mandolin. I know the basics of the cello and ukulele and have just started self-taught lessons on the mandolin. I would like to invest more into my instruments and actually take some lessons to get past the point where I can’t seem to progress without some outside help. I adore each of my instruments and love the sound they make. I can’t wait to get better at each one.
3~ I love writing non-fiction, fiction and poetry.
I have an affinity for words. What can I say? I don’t have a specific type of writing or genre that I stick to, I love the creative world that writing opens up and I have dabbled in just about everything. It’s part of the joy of writing, the face that I get to explore new worlds and create unique story snowflakes.
4~I can handle blood and gross stuff, but if my nail snags, I’m done for.
I watch medical TV shows all the time. I have eight siblings. Generally, that should be enough said, but I’ve seen plenty of wounds and gross things. I’ve always had an interest in medicine to some degree so I don’t have a problem with that kind of stuff for the most part. BUT. If my nail has a chip or a snag in it and it snags some fabric? GURL. I lose it. I do this whole shiver thing that makes my siblings ask if I’m having a seizure. Sometimes just thinking about a nail snag makes me shiver.
5~Sour things make me shiver involuntarily.
Same thing as with the fingernails. When I get to the bottom of the bowl of vinaigrette salad and get a pungent taste of that Apple Cider Vinegar, the shiver is intense. However, I’m obsessed with sour candy so. . . I don’t really know what’s wrong with me.
6~I’ve recently learned that I love running.
I used to think that I would hate it, but in the middle of December of 2019, I decided I wanted to run a 5k. I started training and I am so glad I took that step. I went from not being able to run more than a minute without huffing and puffing and wishing I was done to being able to run for 25-30 minutes straight without a break. If you are a runner, that probably sounds pathetic to you still, but being able to see a huge improvement and progress in myself has been a lot of fun and the running has really helped my mental and physical health. Getting outside, no matter how cold it has been after a long day at the office has really helped me release a lot of stress and get my muscles and body moving. Once this virus thing is over, I can’t wait to actually run my first race.
7~ I talk to myself and have lots of ‘voices’
Talking to myself is one way that I release steam or process situations. This may sound counterintuitive, but talking myself through a process of something that is new or difficult, really helps me retain the information as well as keep me from freaking out. It’s similar to the sense that if I write something down, I’m more likely to remember it. The other half of this is that yes, I probably am a little crazy. 😉 When I say voices, I mean that I have lots of accents and funny voices and imitations that I randomly pull out of my hat. Mostly, I use it to entertain my siblings, because I have to be really close to you to let my goofy side out.
8~ I wish I could dance.
I have no doubt that if I put my mind to it and put in the time and effort that I could be an amazing dancer. Modern dance, swing dancing, line dancing. The little bit that I do know, I love and I’ve been told I’m pretty good. I hope to start learning more soon because I just love it so much and it has been a dream of mine for a long time.
9~ I’m an INFJ
I’d love to share more of what this actually means and looks like for me personally. If you are into the Myers Briggs or 16 personalities type of thing, you will totally understand what this means. I have so much to talk about this subject, but figuring out a lot of the quirks of my personality has been a Godsend and really helped me realize some of my pitfalls and give myself grace in areas that I thought were bad, but may just be the way I was wired to learn and live.
10~ I have a dumb but hilarious sense of humor when I’m just tired enough, or just caffeinated enough.
This one is according to my sister. But she’s right. I get a little punchy in those two scenarios and I have so much fun, but I know I’m not just being stupid because everyone else around me is laughing too. This weird phenomenon happens where I actually get really quick, smart, and witty. You’d think I’d be less so because I’m tired, but it happens.
There you have it! 10 random quirks about the lady behind the blog. Now it’s your turn! What are some random facts or quirks about you? What makes you and your personality unique?
Blessings,
Oh no! The last one sounds exactly like my older sister and I. Both she and I can get REALLY silly (we fall on the floor laughing and can’t stop) and when we do my brother-in-law and middle sister just look on in wonder.
Your shop looks amazing! I totally want to get something from it now!
I love this post!!! It was really fun!
What a fun post! There are great facts. 😉 Hm, here are 10 facts about me:
1. I abhore the smell of mayonnaise.
2. I love doing laundry.
3. I can handle blood but I cannot stomach bruises, bumps, or scraped skin.
4. When I start writing a story, I generally have a word count in mind & end up going far away & above that. XD
5. The smell of frying meat totally makes me happy.
6. I get gradually groggier & slower as the hours advance towards midnight. XD On the other hand I generally can wake up early without much difficulty.
7. Monday is my favourite day of the week!
8. I love, love, LOVE quotes & I collect them.
9. I also love jewelry but I’m very picky about it.
10. My name is super aesthetic and makes me smile every time I see it. 🙂
Okay, so this was awesome! I like to run too, but I have 0 endurance. Could you maybe do a post on your training format? I’d love to be able to really get somewhere with running, because it’s relaxing to me, I just can’t go far XD
Ahh, this is so relatable!! I love graphic tees (*looks down at my Johnny Cash shirt*), blood doesn’t faze me—it’s food that gets me, and the last four are just totally me, although I can’t run that far nonstop *quite* yet, and all my voices stay in my head. (I talk to myself out loud, just not in different voices.) And yes, I totally have a weird sense of humor…
I cannot stand the sight of blood or even hear other s talk about injuries and other medical subjects. I have fainted at least two times when hearing talk about blood etc. I even fainted in church numerous times due to the extreme temperatures. Once I even wound up in the pew in front of me. I have still not figured that one out. I cannot stand the smell of coffee. I collect tea pots., books, dolls and a few other things. I am teaching myself Latin and Sign Language. I want to learn to sew.
Marilyn
I can’t stand the sight of blood and yes, I too have eight siblings. One brother is a nurse, another brother was in and out of the hospital for 4 years with Leukemia, a sister got a third degree burn when she was little, along with many other wounds coming from a large family living in the country. But even with all that, I still get queasy and nauseous over the sight of blood or the teensiest little cut or the word blood. I will try to talk myself out of it even, trying to tell myself it is fine and just a tiny cut. However, I have never fainted even though I have come close to it on multiple occasions.
Other random facts: I am the only lefty in my family, I live in Israel right now, I hate pretzels and always have, I am not very adventurous, I love Winnie the Pooh, I’m a Jane Austen fan
*fellow INFJ high fives* I had to take the Meyers Briggs test for one of my last college courses and knowing the why behind my quirks has helped me a lot too.
Some random facts about me:
1.Lemon curd sets my teeth on edge. I can stand it mixed into things to a point but not too much or I just can’t handle it.
2. There’s a mole on my arm that’s been there since I was born.
3. My mom’s doctors thought I was going to be Down Syndrome because my parents waited till later in life to have me and I apparently did something in the womb that can sometimes be a sign, but they were wrong.
4. I hit all my growth spurts early and have been my current height since I was 11 or 12. Because I was the tallest kid in my classes for so long I still have a thing about feeling like heels of any height will make me “too tall” when really I’m only 2 inches taller than the national average female height.
Something people wouldn’t first know….
I don’t mind getting really dirty if I prepare mentally to do so!
