You all know I’m going to have to start this review raving over the cover. S T U N N I N G.
This book was definitely an interesting read and somewhat scary in it’s realness. LOL! I feel like I need to go stock up on canned goods now. JK> But in all seriousness, I think that is what made this book easy to connect to. The story line was something that we could see happening, and by that, it makes it all that much more real.
The characters, while not my favorite were also very real. They had struggles and the situations that they had gone through in their lives followed them through into their daily lives. Ms. Harris did an amazing job of that. Some authors will use backstory to deepen a character, but then completely drop the ball, leaving you to wonder where the characters faults are. Harris did no such thing and I found myself applauding her use of their quirks and decisions that were based on their past experiences.
I really enjoyed the pace of the story and enjoyed the race to finish what was going on and solve the case before disaster strikes. I’m not really sure why, but I feel like this book had a lack of depth for some reason. I honestly can’t place my finger on it, but I wasn’t intensely invested, but that could just be me. Perhaps it was just that I didn’t really relate to the characters that much.
But don’t let that stop you from reading this book! If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will probably enjoy this book!
