The Lost Rose is officially out in the world, read The Lost Rose is officially out in the world, ready for sale, and ready for your shelf! I've been a bit of a weepy mess the last few days. I've felt the themes for this book be something I've had to cling to even more than normal over the last month. Recognizing that each book I write is always for such a time as this always leaves me in awe. Once I Knew was about courage in the face of fear and of standing for what is right, no matter what other's think or say and no matter the dangers presented to oneself. It's a journey of finding strength in Christ in the face of fear and anxiety. It came out during a season where I experienced the most corporate anxiety in the world in my lifetime. This Life of Mine was about the value of life in an era where it is diminished and taken advantage of at every turn. It came out during a season where trafficking skyrocketed and shortly after a law against life in the womb was abolished and removed from the highest court in the land. The Lost Rose is about hope. About the white-knuckled grip of it in the face of anything and everyone trying to tear it away. It's about the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. It's about fixing our eyes on Him and holding onto the Hope that Christ gives even as the storm and discouragement swirls around us with epic, gale-force winds. It's coming out in a season where hope is what we desperately need. My prayer is that this story blesses you. But more than that, I pray it draws you close to the One who meets all our needs, keeps us safe, holds us close, and is the source of the Hope of the World. I pray your heart is lifted, that you see Him glorified, and that this story whispers truth and hope to your heart when you need it most. This book is no longer mine, it's yours. To God be the glory. Always and forever, for my King.
It's almost time. One more day. My brain has been It's almost time. One more day. My brain has been so full of other things... life is going a little crazy at the moment but I feel like the Lord has taught me a massive lesson in PATIENCE with myself, with life, and with the process these past few months. Nothing has really gone as planned, but I've seen so much growth in myself in the way that I've been able to just roll with the punches and take it one day at a time, one task at a time, and one deep breath at a time. This book is coming out tomorrow. It's been mine for 14+ years. It's been my journey to walk, to turn to, and to experience. But there is something so special about turning a book loose to readers and I've never really felt scared by that moment. Because I trust that the Lord has a purpose in my writing. It's something He's called me to and He is so intimately involved in every part of the process. Our pact is that if just one person is touched and blessed by this story, it's already a success. So everything else no longer matters. All fear and anxiety goes out the window. Yes, I want it to do well. Yes, I want people to like it, but those are all superseded by the fact that I surrender it to the Lord and trust Him to do what He wills with it. So after keeping this story to myself for nearly half my life... I'm so excited to finally release it into the wild tomorrow. I'm excited to give it the ultimate surrender and release it from it's prison once and for all. Meet Malcolm Best friend and first knight to the Meet Malcolm Best friend and first knight to the king, Malcolm's seen a lot. He carries the world on his shoulders for the sake of his brotherhood with Elgon and will do just about anything to serve him to the best of his ability. Carrying the weight of a mistake that has haunted him for years, Malcolm is the one who will set all of his fears and his failures behind to put his life on the line to make the mission of rescue happen. He's the only one Elgon fully trusts to rescue his missing daughter and his stern and somber exterior belies a heart he's denied the ability to love. Malcolm was the hero of my 13 year old brain and watching him become something completely different and better and deeper in the character department was an absolute blast. His was the voice in the story that seemed to come the easiest to me as I wrote. I knew this man and I knew what made him tick. His hopes and dreams that had been superseded by his fears and failures was something that I felt comfortable in because I knew him so well. His story encouragement me so much that your past does not have to define you and that allowing it to do so is a disservice to the King who wrote your story. I hope you love getting to know him and enjoy the start of his arc as there is even more to come in the next book. It's an example of how hope can grow in the harshest of places and blossom into full maturity when the time is right. She's a character that I resonate with so much. She became the heart of Christ to those around her even with what some would call little to no opportunity and was a tiny bud of potential greatness as she wasted away in a castle tower.
