It’s always a good day to add to your library…
Here is a list (by no means comprehensive) of some of my fave Contemporary Fiction recs!
If this list interests you, be sure to check out my other recent posts with #cleanbookrevolution recs by genre!
Mammoth was a book I could not put down! Be prepared to stay up late and read as if your life depends upon it because the characters lives do. High action and adventure, written in TV show episodic format, and with sibling/best friends vibes, banter, and heart, this book will be sure to keep your interest and leave you hunting for book two IMMEDIATELY! Clean action adventure with treasure hunting? YES PLEASE!
content: there is one scene where a boyfriend tries to take advantage of his girlfriend that is slightly detailed, but handled well by the character.
TITAN is the sequel we so desperately needed. The Indiana Jones vibe is strong with this one! We follow the Jailbirds south of the hemisphere and go through the highs, lows, and death-defying adventures with them as they seek to unravel how the secrets of their pasts connect with the treasure they seek. Just as heart-stopping as the first one, you won’t want to put it down!
This was such a cozy, imaginative book that I read on a fall vacation and it suited the vibes perfectly. With so much heart and imagination in this story, the place of escape for these characters becomes a place of refuge, until it resurfaces their old hurts and wounds.
Beautifully written and heartwarming to the extreme, this book may leave you in tears, but also with your heart a little lighter.
Content: it’s mentioned that the characters have been abused in the past and can be a little tense for younger teens.
CANNOT STOP raving about this book. I’ve legitimately given it to at least ten people now. LOL! This book is perfect for every classic literature nerd! With LOTR references galore, a long-distance romance, and sibling/friend characters that will leave you ROLLING with laughter, I was grinning from page one till the end of this book, except for when I was crying. The themes of this one really struck home for me! It’s also written in epistolary style which actually had me fall in love with it even more! This one is a little heavier on the romance in certain scenes, but still clean!
The next book by Pepper does not disappoint! The most joyful sweet character you could expect to meet along with all of the escapades and scrapes she gets into, this subtle enemies to lovers romance, along with the mystery and discovery of unearthing a failing theatre on a whimsical European island will give you all of the cozy, aesthetic vibes! Snuggle up for this with a cup of tea and your favorite chocolate. It’s practically perfect in every way.
This book is single handedly responsible for teaching my mom to read fiction. She’s never been interested in fiction and her brain has struggled to read it, but this book made her laugh and cry and she devoured it in a week.
The beautiful story of a woman near deaths door paired up with a reluctant journalist who must write her obituary… before she passes.
Mrs. Kip had me rolling and reaching for tissues by turn and the powerful message of the value of life and purpose and impact of a life dedicated to Christ will fill your heart with hope and joy.
With pro-life themes and an honest look at ministry in the US, this book follows a young single-mother and her filmmaking dreams … as well as her unplanned and reluctant romance with her downstairs neighbor, instigated mostly by her young and precocious son.
This book WRECKED ME and I’m actually taking it on a trip with me for a re-read. I cannot recommend it enough! The sweetest ill-fated romance ever and the heart-breaking decisions that come with adoption is one that felt so real and heart-warming. I left this book a changed person and the themes and heart behind it still sticks with me to this day. So grateful I had the opportunity to find it and can’t wait to read it again. Which, like I said, if a book makes it on the re-read list, that is the highest praise.
PREPARE YOURSELF. Nicole Deese has a way of writing spell-binding tales that take you into the deepest places of the heart and teach you how to unveil your own.
This story unearthed so many feelings in me and the story itself was a page-turner that left me smiling, and crying by turns.
If you are ready for a healing and emotional journey through the lives of characters who are bound together by past, tragedy, and a missing manuscript, then you won’t want to miss this delightful tale set on my favorite coast in Oregon.
This book ended up on this list instead of the suspense because it dealt with more personal issues and stories than an actual guns-blazing type of suspense. I was on the edge of my seat the ENTIRE TIME and really rooted for the romance. The mystery was super interesting and unique in the way it unraveled amongst family connections, old and new.
content: deals with alcohol abuse, a messy divorce as the result of unfaithfulness, etc. Handled in a godly way imo.
This is an oldie but one I return to often when I need a comfort book. Just re-read it again and it had me in TEARS as usual. If you are looking for a book that has just the right notes of sweetness, and healing from heartbreak, this is for you.

Ooh, Mammoth! I’ve heard lots about that book and really want to give it a go someday! *Glares at my TBR pile*
