This might be the most swoon-worthy quote from Anne of Green Gables. The promise, the heart, the realization of the true meaning of where we place value puts my heart in a spin.

The quote is more than Anne being romantic. It's her realizing that her romantic notions were nothing compared to real love when it was experienced. Her looking and striving and trying to make her perfect life was nothing in comparison to the beauty of what God had already placed right in front of her.

Fairytales, sunbursts, and marble halls are all well and good, but there is something infinitely more precious about the little, quiet, unassuming joys right in front of our faces.

We grow up so often inundated with the culture of "the grass is always greener on the other side" But how often do we forget the quiet moments, the relationships that are day to day, and the joys set before us?

But while we don't forget to take joy in the things around us, don't forget to hold onto hope.

Our God is one of good gifts stored up for his children. Of loving us more than we could ever imagine. Of preparing a path and a place for us far beyond anything we could ask or think or imagine.

His love for us is greater, deeper, farther, stronger, fuller and long-lasting than we could ever expect.

I pray that each of you know that. That no matter the glory and beauty of sunbursts and marble halls, you never forget His love for you.

"And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." Eph. 3:17-19

A babbling brook or creek? I will disappear outside for hours simply to sit and listen.

I find if SO INTERESTING that the sounds the good Lord made always bring so much peace.

Have you ever heard "Ugh, I can't stand the sound of the waves, they stress me out." or "I wish the creek would be silent, I can't stand that constant droning."

Yeah, me either. 🤣

In total, it reminds me that God, in His infinite wisdom, knows exactly what He's doing. If all of creation sings HIs glory and His existence, then it makes me smile to think of the babbling brook rippling over rocks and leaves, the trees clattering in the breeze, the birds singing their songs, and he wind whistling over rocks and crevices all sing His praise.

What a beautiful thought.

Writing the Chronicles of Elira has brought a passion forward that I always knew was there, but that I get to taste and experience in a new way. Each of the books settings is heavily influenced by the natural settings. Mountains, forests, villages built snugly into them...

There is something so beautiful about how nature mirrors our King, but how it also can mirror the way we are made in His image. I love that our souls respond and recognize our Father in the way the world moves around us, subconsciously sees His hand, feels His presence, and hear His voice.

"and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters." Rev. 1:15

I think when we get to heaven we may recognize His voice immediately. Can you imagine? Every time we hear rushing water, that's a tiny taste of what He will sound like.

Nature is full of wonder for me. Wonder in a presence many forget is there. And I would prefer it any day to the sounds of our manmade world.
