Purchase and Synopsis
I am happy to welcome my mom to the blog for a guest review! She snatched this book before I could even open it and declared she was going to read it first. You can’t really argue with your mother, you know? But anyway, here is her review of Still!
Mom’s rating: five stars.
I thoroughly enjoyed Jenny L. Donnelly’s book, Still, 7 Ways to Find Calm in the Chaos. The book is extremely easy to read and very enjoyable. I believe Jenny found the balance between sharing just enough of her personal life to keep you engaged and make feel like you are not the only one, but she also didn’t share so much it reads like a biography. Her stories were very engaging, heartwarming and even funny, at times. I found myself laughing and crying as I could easily relate to her.
Still is divided into three sections, each very practical. The first section I would describe as ‘diagnosing the problem’. Helping one see the need for rest in their lives. Again, her personal stories really draw you in and help you to see your need without feeling judged in the least.
The second section, Seven Ways to Rest, was my favorite. I love practical how-tos. This section provided just that without making it feel like a law or check list. Each of the seven ways were wrapped in relatable examples that then led you to some very easy-to-apply steps.
Section three wraps it all up very neatly and helps map out the road to living a lifestyle of rest. I would highly recommend this book! I believe in the culture we live in, everyone would benefit from the practical ways she lays out way to find rest. It was biblically based and grounded in truth. You don’t have to be a stressed out person, or someone dealing with anxiety to benefit greatly from this book. I consider myself a fairly seasoned Christian and found very helpful ideas peppered throughout the book. Whether you are a new believer or a more seasoned one, I think Still will bless you and bring some calm to your chaos.
There you have it, folks! How do you feel about stillness? Do you feel like you can maintain stillness and rest in your life? If so, how? What are some tips you have to remain at peace amidst the chaos?
Blessings,
