The Christian Entrepreneur // Book Review

The Christian Entrepreneur by Brock Shinen
Genre: Business/Professional Growth
Publisher: Bethany House
Publication Year: 2020

5 stars!

I loved this book! As someone who has been an entrepreneur since I was 12, I obviously have a passion and an excitement when it comes to topics such as this. I immediately caught onto the passion and compassion that Brock Shinen possesses and I thoroughly enjoyed his storytelling, as well as the valuable information that he offered in this book. If you are even thinking about starting a business, I would highly recommend this book! You will find great wisdom and insight, packed into an easy to read and concise package that will provide you with valuable insight and an incredible amount of inspiration, as well as encouragement as you set out upon your journey to creating a business, ministry, ect.

Shinen’s explanations are easy to understand, but comprehensive at the same time and I really appreciated his heart and passion for the topic. I found it easy to pick up on the fact that his main goal and desire is to see the Kingdom of God furthered in the workplace and the marketplace. I found his approach refreshing and delightful and would highly recommend this book! I can’t wait to use his outline of a business plan that he included in the back of the book to solidify my own businesses.

Managing Worry and Anxiety by Jean Holthaus
Genre: Christian Self-Help
Publisher: Revell
Publication Year: 2020

3 stars.

Jean Holthaus is definitely experienced and incredibly knowledgeable about this subject. The book is full of insightful information that I found interesting. This would actually make a good writer’s tool. I found myself analyzing my characters and finding in depth descriptions of their behavioral anxiety and the reason for it.

This book was a bit too much on the technical and heavy side for me when it comes to the amount of information. It was difficult for me to get into it and I found it hard for me to really absorb what the author was saying.

If you’re someone who really wants to get to the root of anxiety or worry and see how it can affect your life in so many different areas, or if you are someone who enjoys psychology and learning about the shaping of thought patterns etc.  this book would definitely be for you.

Have you read either of these books?

Blessings,
