Take a moment, sis.

It’s okay to take a break. Whether it’s a day, an hour, or a few minutes to breathe, refocus, and rest.

I tend to get overwhelmed with too many high functioning events in a row. Everyone is exhausted by different things, but if we don’t find balance in our lives, burnout is a devastating demon ready to rear its ugly head. We see the hustle culture, the “get ‘er done”, the hurry up and hurry some more. We watch others seemingly crushing their goals, accomplishing their dreams,  and chasing the next exciting adventure.

But we don’t see the rest because to most, it’s not exciting. Nothing fun and new happens while you are taking the day to recoup, re-center and refocus. But just because we don’t see other’s times of rest, doesn’t mean we don’t need it ourselves. It’s a deceptive portrayal of a true life when all we see is the hustle.

So sis, it’s okay to rest. It’s healthy to take a day. It’s not only healthy, but it’s wise to schedule in rest time. If your life feels like a runaway train, make sure you are prioritizing rest! I find that when I have a busy week, I really need to set those times of rest, block out evenings on my calendar where I WON’T be doing anything outside of the home. Those nights are important to me because I need that time to recoup or I will be completely burned out in a short manner of time.

Find your rest in Jesus. Turn to Him. Set times apart every day and often to seek him, listen to His voice and enter into His rest. We can rest all we want, but if we aren’t partnering with Him for that rest, it won’t have the same effect. He gives us so much more than we could ever ask for and I guarantee if you spend some time with Him, you won’t regret it. Crack out a journal, and listen to what He has to say. Worship, read His words. Rest. Sit quietly in HIs presence. There’s no better place to be.
