I have some very special news today. I’ve only been waiting for this day for FOUR LONG YEARS!

The cover for Once I Knew is finally here!

This book has been a long time coming. I have spent a lot of months focused on it and it sat in the closet for probably close to two years when God asked me to take a break from writing.

It was something I missed, something I could not wait to dive into again and start writing. Something that has been percolating in the back of my head for what feels like eons. Something that even now, I’m not tired of even after about 7 rounds of edits. And I’m happy to announce that it is now finally on its way!

Without further ado, I give you… ONCE I KNEW.

If you have been around on my blog for a while, you may recognize it when it comes out. The first chapter was published on this blog as a writing prompt a few years ago. After that, the story wouldn’t go away and it kept growing in my brain. A few years later, the longest book I’ve ever written is complete and I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am!

I designed it myself and am super THRILLED with how it turned out! I’ve had a blast over the years working on covers for other authors via Victoria Lynn Designs, but it was such a delight to get to work on a cover for myself for a change! It took a TON of trial and error and even some impatience. There were a few moments where I thought I wasn’t going to be able to do it, which was super rare for me, honestly.

But then, after some prayer and some last ditch hail-Mary attempts, my intern found this image and after some editing and tweaks… it all come together. I knew the second I saw this girl that she would be a perfect representation of Violet. I love that you can’t fully see her face as I feel like it helps the reader imagine her in their own way. Plus the golden light is just my favorite.

Synopsis:

Violet lives her quiet little life in her sleepy village. Trying to remain as dead to the politics that are threatening their world as possible. She follows the rules, stays out of trouble and does her best to remain out of sight of the dreaded and overbearing Kingsmen.

With the new regent on the throne, the country has been thrown into a turmoil. Unlike the kindly king before him, the new ruler is overbearing, frightening and tyrannical in his rule. Taxes are bleeding the people dry and without the money or goods to pay, they have been forced into penal servitude and imprisonment by the Kingsmen, who know no mercy. The despair and fear that has taken over their lives has ruled out any level of hope.

When Violet stumbles upon an unconscious and injured Kingsman in the woods, despite the consequences, she cannot help but take care of the injured man. When he wakes and has no memory of who he is, she takes the only precaution that will keep her and her grandmother safe; she destroys the evidence of his past life.

If Violet’s lowly Kingsman regains his memory, will she be able to live with the consequences? And will the Kingsman be able to live with his past life?

The absolute fantastic news is that it’s now available for order here on the site!
