If you missed last week’s post on the first meaning of my word for the year, you can check out that post here.

I mentioned in the last post that my word for the year was multifaceted and had several meanings to me. As I prayed and studied and listened, something else that coming to my attention was purposeful pursuit

I had experienced a relationship that didn’t work at the end of this past year. The main reason being, there was little to no pursuit from the other person. I was doing all the work and while I believe that God didn’t want us together, the lack of initiative and pursuit from this person really got me thinking.

The Lord is purposeful in His pursuit of us. He pursues us with great delight and joy in getting to spend time with us and romance us. But from that experience, I learned that a relationship doesn’t work unless there is equal purpose on each side of that relationship. The Lord can’t be expected to do all the pursuing in a relationship. There must be a mutual purpose in reaching for the other person and seeking them out. It can’t be all one sided. That is not the definition of a relationship. It takes two.

The second meaning of the word purpose for me was to resolutely be seeking the Lord and seeking to spend time with Him.

My Purpose = To pursue with purpose

See how that word just dances all around all of these meanings?

“When he arrived and saw what grace God was bestowing upon them, he was full of joy and he continuously exhorted them all to cleave unto and remain faithful and devoted to the Lord with Resolute and steady Purpose of heart.”  Acts 11:23

“Pray at all times in the Spirit with all manner of prayer and entreaty. To that end, keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding on behalf of all the saints.” Eph. 6:18

So this year, I am diving deep and seeking Him harder than I ever have before. Not just seeking Him, but seeking romance with Him.

Blessings,

Victoria
